In my Explorer II cabin, there is a label with “Refrigerator “ written on it. It’s the original label, there are others.
I know it’s not an actual refrigerator (or is it?) because I can’t find any power supply to it, nor are there any controls for it.
So assuming both it, and the chest behind it, are in fact ‘cool’ boxes, how do other owners cool them?
Do people use ice? Or the freezer blocks used in portable cool boxes?
Considering I’m undertaking a complete restoration of this boat, what would others recommend as an alternative to using the existing items?

Standard eq is Double icebox. I asume/guess you just add ice or freezer blocks to keep your beverages and food cold.

I've been working inside the boat, refreshing the galley area and considering what to do.
I think I'm going to remove the old and install an electric fridge.

I would suggest that you install a cooling unit in the ice box and use it as a freezer and the cooler as a cooler.

Yes Sebastion, I'd found those units for sale online. A freezer chest and a fridge would be a fantastic addition to the boat.
I've been looking for access and mounting areas, but of course, once the 'fridge box is out, my options will become clearer.
